April 12, 2009More Vintage Easter Greeting Cards, Complete With The Easter Rooster!
Happy Easter, all! I love this holiday. Not just because of all the great food and decorations, but also because it is really a sign that spring will be here soon!
I am in the middle of baking the lamb-shaped cake that I always make every Easter. It is really special to me, because I make it in the same pan that my Great-Aunt used to make it in so many years ago. Her lamb cakes were always so very, very good. I have changed them a bit, I make carrot cake instead of a pound cake, cream cheese frosting instead of buttercream, but I still use the exact same pan.
Like an idiot!
Every year the ears fall off my cake. Every bleeping year. You would think I learn, but I don’t. I do the same thing, forgetting about the ears until they get stuck in the pan and crack off. In fact, the reason I am doing this post right now is that I just took the cakes out of the pans, and the ears fell off. So, instead of throwing things and swearing, I am taking a break to post some vintage cards.
I will post the pictures of the lamb cake’s construction later next week, when I am a little calmer.
Super cute Hallmark card from 1949. I love the flower umbrella and the gingham bow. Another super cute Hallmark card from 1949. The lamb is so sweet in this card! Okay…irritation at lamb cake is fading…And here is an adorable Easter….rooster? What? It reminds me of those Cadbury Egg commercials. Oh well, I will just go with it. Ladies and Gentlemen, The Easter Rooster! What would we do without him?
Awww…another lamb. And look at the little pink ears. Well, I am refreshed and ready to get back to the cake. I hope everyone has a wonderful, happy Easter. See you tomorrow!
