New Thrifted Lamp Find

Hello everyone!  This post is going to be a short one, because we are having some internet issues today, but I just wanted to share the great lamp I got yesterday at the local Salvation Army for $5!

I wish there would have been a pair of these gorgeous guys, but I will take what I can get!

Look at that face!  Who could walk away from it?  Not me!  I know this isn’t an “atomic” type of lamp, but I love it anyways.

Sadly, no shade with this one.  But my mom gave me a vintage book for my birthday that has directions on how to make a barrel lampshade, so I think this lamp is going to be my first attempt at shade making.

Hope everyone is looking forward to a long weekend!

$5, I cannot believe it was only $5!!! What a STEAL!!!! I have this funky 50s horse head (yes, it is only the head) lamp with the orig. shade – one of those triple fiberglass ones – and it is just the funniest lamp. There is some name on the ceramic, I just cannot quite make it out. Cool lamp you found though!

Wow, that is cool! I think it’s fun to mix the atomic/geometric designs and the animals/art nouveau/art deco designs. There were lots of styles popular in the era, and who says there are any rules for decorating your own house? Just designers trying to make us pay them, I guess! Great find! I bet someday you’ll come across another one, but maybe in a different color or something, and it will be even more eclectic and fun!
