Vintage Dress Obsession – Found Housedress

vintage-finds-059Check out this great dress!  I thought it was a piece of fabric in a mixed bag that I bought from a garage sale recently for $2.  But it turned out to be a lot more than just fabric.  In addition to some actual vintage fabric pieces, there were about 8 vintage quilt blocks and this dress. It is a little big, but that is another job for craft group, right?

I especially love the fabric on this dress, and the cute white piping. I think if I shorten this dress and take it in, it would make a really great swimsuit cover-up, since it zips down the front.

Since we are going on vacation somewhere with beaches, I decided I needed to spruce up my wardrobe with some remade vintage dresses.  Now I just need to find a vintage or retro bathing suit.  I saw one with an adorable skirt the other day. I just need to find it for a little cheaper!

So cute! Love the pockets.

Very cute! I got my last swimsuit at JCPenney’s. It is a two-piece with a skirt bottom and a top that covers the tummy. Wouldn’t pass for vintage, but it’s in a tropical theme and has the retro vibe. I love it, because I can’t stand to feel exposed in a teeny tiny suit!

What a pleasant surprise to find this dress, Ruth! I love it! If it were a bit longer, it would make a great house dress or very casual going-to-the-store dress, with a nice pair of sandals.
