Our House Update – New Clock on Fireplace

vintage-finds-002Happy Friday, everyone!  I am pretty sure I haven’t posted pictures of our new starburst clock yet, but if I have, I apologize!

We picked up this beauty at an junk shop in Bay City about 2 months ago for $7.  I totally consider it a steal.  I know it isn’t as flashy as some I have seen lately, but I really love the simpleness of it.  Plus, it is just black and brass, which matches the fireplace perfectly.  We don’t have to worry about wood accents that are impossible to match with our woodwork!

Ugh. And ignore all the 80’s light fixtures in the background.  Some of those will be dealt with this weekend, and some when we find replacement spotlights that are true to the period. And brass would be nice!

A side view of the clock.  Don’t worry, we didn’t bore a hole in the fireplace to hang it up.  There was already a hole there from the previous owners, just waiting for us to put up this clock!

Here is a close-up.  May not be the best one out there, but I like it.  Oh, and it was converted to run on one AA battery. No cords. Score!

Really cool clock Ruth! $7 is a STEAL! Great find. I have a brass one almost excatly like yours, except the points are longer at the 3,6,9 and 12 (hope that makes sense). I got mine at an Estate sale here for like $15, I think? I just have to say, again, that I LOVE your fireplace so very much, that stone is gorgeous! OOH, I am excited to see what your new light fixtures will be, please post pics!

I love this type of clock (I’ve got two)! This one IS perfect for your space, and I especially like the diamonds instead of numbers. Very cool! Isn’t it amazing how the fireplace feels more “finished” now that you have the clock hung? You’re lucky the hole was there, too, because I have a great clock just propped on a mantel because I’m waiting for my husband to have time to drill into the brick!

Nice! I like the simpler clocks, too. It looks great on your fireplace.

We can’t put one on ours, as much as I would love to, because there’s a built-in niche right where it should go. So enjoy the simplicity of your fireplace, too!

You sure cleaned up on that deal, Ruth! Yippee!

I love the clock and your fireplace! Indiana Limestone is my favorite for fireplaces.

My kitchen curtains arrived yesterday. I’m doing bamboo tiers at the window above the sink and the window in the eat-in area.
