Race and Picnic 029Happy Monday, all!  Here are some shots from my party this weekend, although they are pitifully few. I didn’t have much time to wield a camera with all the guests coming and going. I have to admit with some embarassment that Hubs and I weren’t the most prepared for a party of about 40 people, but everyone seemed to have a good time.  It wasn’t until almost everyone was gone that I realized I had forgotten to put out half the food!  Ah well, next time I will be more prepared.

In any case, here is a shot of my pile of washed up vintage serving pieces getting ready for the big to-do.  I was very excited, because I hadn’t even used some of them yet!  They were “new” so to speak.  I have to say that I used most of them, but didn’t have time to fill them all up. Oh well!

Kudos on the egg Penguins, Ruth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For some reason, that particular appetizer was on my mind this weekend, LOL! I have that recipe in a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook from 1960.

Glad the open house was a smash hit.

Thanks, Jane and Sable! Sable, can you scan the recipe and send it to me to post? I didn’t use a recipe for my penguins, I just saw a picture in one of my books and threw something together. It would be great to post the real vintage recipe!

You have a great collection of serving pieces, and those penguins are just tooooo cute! I’m not the best hostess either – I’m always doing things like forgetting to serve something, and I get really frustrated at not being able to take photos, since I’m constantly running around doing stuff! Glad to hear your party was a success!
