Sara’s Christmas Contest Entry – Vintage Stocking and Plastic Fantastic Snowmen

Here is another great entry for the Christmas contest, from Sara.  Man, these entries just keep getting cuter!

First up are some old plastic candy containers. Well, the large snowman is not a candy container, he actually lights up, but you can tell he matches the other snowman. The smaller ones are definitely candy containers, as they have a pocket in the back where the candy would go. As you can see, the Santa is still on his original paper card. These plastic toys were made by companies such as ‘Rosbro’ or ‘Rosen’, mine are all Rosbro. These companies made all sorts of different plastic toys back in the 40s, 50s, and 60s – some for Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Valentines – you name it! Anyway, I get a kick out of them, so I wanted to share.
And, I had to share Mikes (my husband) Father’s Christmas stocking. This was his original Christmas stocking from the late 1940s to early 1950s. He knew Mike and I loved old things so he gave it to us. I put it in a frame so the stocking would be more protected. I really think this old Christmas stocking is fabulous and the graphics are a hoot!
I love the stocking Sara, tell Mike it is great and I can see why you love it so much!
Stay tuned for more great Christmas Contest entries, and then voting for the winner is going to start this Friday!

I love these, Sara! My mom had some of the plastic candy holders from her childhood. She won’t give them up…yet.

What a great way to display the vintage Christmas stocking! I have never seen those kinds of plastic candy holders and am having a hard time wondering how big or small they are. Cute though!

Thank You Paulette! The candy containers are approx. 5 inches high and the light up Snowman is approx. 8 inches high. I think they were meant to really be used as toys after the candy was gone. I have seen some pretty elaborate candy containers, such as cars, and all sorts of other cool things.

I have seen some of those containers around as well, Sara, but yours are really cool. I love the Santa that is blowing the horn!
