Taco The Cat Update – Thanks For All The Support!

Taco 004Thanks for all the well-wishing, support and suggestions for Taco the cat.  As you can see on the left, he is doing fine and is just a handsome boy.  Our vet visit went very well, and he was cleared of diseases, fleas and ear mites.  We have had a couple of interested parties for adoption as well, which isn’t a guaranteed home, but it is a start!

If anyone has been moved by Taco’s plight, please contact your local animal rescue chapter and donate your time and money.  And please consider giving to the Midland Humane Society, because there are no resources here, and we need all the help we can get!

By the by, is anyone involved in a rescue out there who can give some advice?  I want to look into setting up a cat adoption center in a storefront downtown Midland, and I was wondering if anyone has done it recently or knows what it entails.  Thanks!

Ruth, I volunteer with a local cat rescue organization in South Carolina that does adoptions, trap/neuter/returns of ferals, and I help manage several colonies of ferals for them. The co-directors are great gals, and I’m sure would be glad to talk to you and tell you how they got started. If you’ll email me directly at maganarama [at] gmail, I’ll send you back contact info for them.

Once again I thank you for kindness and compassion for animals, especially cats. Here is a link for PAWS of Carteret County (NC) which is exactly what you have in mind; it is even located in a store front downtown and runs one of the best thrift stores in the area. Some of my favorite vintage finds have come from their store! In fact, PAWS has done so well from donations and funds generated from the store that they are building a new animal shelter in here town.

I am very thankful to live in an area (very small town on NC’s southern Outer Banks) with an abundance of animal lovers and citizens with lots of volunteer spirit.

Hope this will help. Good luck with Taco and all other rescues!!

Aw, he’s gorgeous, and bless you for looking after him. I have 10 cats (all indoors, all rescues) myself. I’ll be thinking of you and hoping all turns out well.
