October 2, 2009Wanda’s Christmas Contest Entry – A Ton of Vintage Christmas Photos!
These are pictures of me, an only child, and all the wonderful toys (I
wish I still had) that Santa left under the tree. The earliest pictures
were taken in 1955. I was 13 months old. Notice the standing Santa. Momma
must have thought it hilarious to stick him in my face and watch my
reaction! The later pics were probably 1959. Standing Santa’s still with
us. In fact, he is the one thing that was brought out every Christmas no
matter the other decorations. And one of the few things that survived the
years. I continue to bring him out, a little worse for wear, but when I’m
gone, my daughter will be the keeper of the standing Santa. We almost lost
him one year. We burned a light bulb of too high wattage and he now sports
a dark brown spot in his chest which we loving refer to heartburn. He’s in
the more current group picture with his new friends.
I have quite a collection of mid century decorations. One that threatens
to take over the house completely at Christmas. There are a lot of these
pictures on my old blog here:

The first several posts are Christmas a couple of years ago.
