I could not resist doing this post for Kelly, who probably had the best Flickr page – EVER. Her Flickr page is gone now (wahhhhhh!!!) but I had to do this tribute to Jack (her vintage mannequin).
Oh my gosh y’all Mike and I were out shopping the other day when we came across these poor souls.
I asked them what their names were.
The older one said his name was John.
The younger one said his name was Jacques.
They are brothers.
I asked them what on earth they were doing in an antique store and they said they were sold off as slaves to the antique store. As you can see from the pictures, they donot have their hands attached. John told me that their slave owners only let them have their hands when they are working at night, under strict supervision, so as to lessen their chances of escaping slavery.
Unfortunately, they only have one outfit to share between them so John got the pants and Jacques has the shirt and hat. I feel bad that Jacques has to go around wearing no pants, maybe if we all chip in we could buy him some pants? Jacques feels lucky to be able to wear feathers though, I thought that was a nice touch from the slave owners.
Jacques told me that they were hitch-hiking their way to Tennessee from California when they were sold into slavery by a Mr. Claws right here in Arizona. Jacques said they were trying to find his long lost lost twin brother that he had heard about many years ago. He thought his name might be Jack.
The slave owners told John and Jacques to always have a smile on while the store is open, to act really happy and cheerful, but NO talking to the customers. I had to be very careful to not let anyone see me talking with John and Jacques. You can see they do look really cheerful, but there were tears on the inside.
I said they should just come with us right now, we would rescue them and send them onto Tennessee.
But they said one one of their slave owners was right there! Yikes! The evil Egyptian Lady Indra. See, they have to look happy in front of her, she is watching them ALL the time. She also likes to wear small sombreros!
Sooooo, to get these poor chaps out of slavery from the antique store it will only cost ….$623! Plus Tax!
Despite what the tags say they are not “Very Happy” here. 🙂
Does anyone want to rescue them from a life of servitude and give them their hands back full time?
Let me know y’all.
*Miss Ya Kelly!*
