MCM Christmas Card Contest – Win 52 Retro Cool Cards!

By RetroRuth

Oh you crazy readers!  I am happy to announce that it is super-happy-retro-fun-time again. And what I mean by that is: Time for another giveaway!

Since our Christmas Card contest was such a smashing hit last year (and netted reader Eartha Kitsch some fun cards) Diane from What’s Buzzin’ has decided to partner up with us again for another great giveaway!  This time the prize is a whopping 52 brand-spanking-new retro Christmas Cards from What’s Buzzin’. That’s one of every design in her shop. WOW!

See all the swanky designs at the What’s Buzzin’s online store!

And how do you win this fabulous prize?  Easy peasy.  Send us a nomination for the best consumer product created from 1950-1970 for American Housewives.  It can be hilarious, helpful, life-changing, time-saving, delicious, disgusting, ridiculous or just be your favorite.  Send us a few sentences or a paragraph (max 300 words) naming the product you choose, why it is your favorite, and why other readers should vote for it. Pictures or ads are not necessary, but will help convince others to vote for you!

We will compile a list of your submitted consumer products and have a voting extravaganza!  The product that gets the most votes wins the contest!

Email your product nomination to me at ruth@nopatternrequired.com or leave a comment with your nomination here or on our Facebook page.  The deadline for submissions will be 11/17/10 at midnight EST, voting will be from 11/22-11/29, and the winner will be announced on 11/30/10.

We want to see some great submissions, people. Good Luck!!

What a great idea for a contest! I absolutely love the cards that I won last year. They’re really great. Since I won last year, I won’t enter this year – but will look forward to seeing the submissions!

At first I was going to say Elvis Presley was the best consumer product (and he was a product)for American housewives EVER, but then I thought to myself ” Self, even more than Elvis what has changed your life by leaps and bounds?”

I answered myself- “THE PILL.” Invented by Margaret Sanger, the birth control pill was officially approved by the FDA in 1957 (for severe menstrual disorders), but Sanger had been lobbying for her “magic pill” for decades prior. Finally in 1960, women from all walks of life were able to finally have a say in their reproductive lives.

The Pill, I tip my uterus to you.

That is very gracious of you, Eartha! As always, the perfect mid-century lady. 🙂 Can you throw a mention of the contest up on your blog? I would love to get as many people involved as we can!

Steph – That is a great one! Way to use the ole Noodle. 🙂

    Hey everyone!

Thanks for all the comments!!! Would like to make sure everyone knows all the rules, though. Just because you leave a comment doesn’t mean you are entered in the contest. To be entered in the contest, you MUST submit a consumer product for American Housewives from 1950-1970. Then readers will vote on their favorite nominated products. Hope to see lots of products from you guys!

I think the tv dinner (a.k.a. frozen dinner)was the best consumer product of this era. This freed Moms from being chained to the kitchen. Also, for the children with Moms who served slop, they now could eat tasty meals.

Where oh where would we be without comet cleanser? Of course, most people use mr clean magic pads but I prefer to use good old comet cleanser and a scrub brush!

The electric frying skillet. I swear when I cleaned out my mom’s house this year I found three of them. She cooked everything in them!!!
