November 18, 2010Vintage Dresses

I am a sucker for vintage clothes. I have been buying vintage since I was in high school and it always amazes me what will pop up for sale.
I have 2 vintage dresses I’d like to show y’all this week.
Click on any picture to enlarge it.
This first dress is a 1950s pink satin dress. I found this one at a thrift shop. I fell in love with all the detailing on the front and the cute little pink bows. The dress is amazingly well made, unfortunately the original label is now missing and it only has the “Union Made” tag now.
The other dress I found at a Flea Market in Texas. This is a dead stock 1950s sundress and still has all of it’s original tags. The lady I bought it from said it was from a dress shop in Kansas that had shut it’s doors, but everything was left in tact. Oh, how awesome would it have been to go through that store! She said she bought all the dresses they had and they were all size 12. Unfortunately a 12 then is not like a 12 now – it’s probably more like a 6/8 in today’s sizes. I immediately fell in love with this dress!
Here is a close up of the fabric. What a cute print!
Here is a close up of the bodice. I just love that ruffle detail along the top!
Here are some of the original tags.
It looks like the original price was $14.95 and it went on sale for $7.86!
Here is the original manufacturers tag.
This dress is a “Glass Original”.
Here is the back of the tag.
I think I will call up the company tomorrow and see if I can still get an order in!
