MCM Home Improvement: A Motherlode Of Retro-Vintage Style Christmas Decor

By Sablemable aka Jan

Oh, my!  I had so much fun searching online for Christmas decor that would go with our homes, especially reproductions.  Of course, if you want the real-deal, you can always find decor on Ebay and Etsy as well as thrift stores, garage sales, etc.   For just plain ornaments, BigLots, Lowe’s and Family Dollar has inexpensive sets.

One site, www.christmastraditions.com, has a massive collection of reproductions.  Christmas Traditions is located in Canoga Park, California.  Hurray for California!!!!!

Ornaments.  Mercury glass ornaments that were so popular back then.  Some are mini, some are large, some come in sets and all come in retro inspired boxes.  The first box contains 3 mercury glass ornaments for $29.99; the second is 24 mini ornaments at $24.99;

Diamond glitter icicles to hang on your MCM tree.  A set of 14, 5 inch long icicles are $23.99.

Bottle brush trees!  All decorated and in a variety of colors, including the traditional green.  The green set of 3 goes for $29.99 and the strawberry tree is $36.99.

A string of retro tree lights.  $35.99 for 12 feet.

Pier1 Imports (www.pier1.com) has cute disco light style ornaments for $2.95 each.  They measure 3″x3″x3″ and come in red or silver.  I remember these kind on our Christmas trees.

Bronner’s (www.bronners.com) has cute candy cane round ornaments for $8.99 each.  They come in red or white.

Now, I realize that some of the prices are a bit high, however, sometimes we just have to buy brand new items.  So don’t scream too loudly!

How is your Christmas decorating coming along?

    My decorating is all done! Yay! Well, okay…except for watching the hubs put the lights on the outside of the house while cheering for him. 🙂

    I have a special place in my heart for those mercury glass ornaments. So sweet. I love those icicles too!

    Earthaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! Good going on the decorating and cheerleading, ha-ha! That’s the ticket-stay inside where it’s warm, cup of something hot in your hand and smile and wave and the hubby while he’s unknotting the lights! Send photos.

    Saraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!! I’ll bet your decorating will be sooo neat! Take photos, please!

    Ruuuuuuuuuuth! Yes, you and your dustcatchers, LOL! All the years I’ve lived here in Michigan, I’ve never been to Bronner’s, but I have visited their web site.
