A Mid-Century Building and Motel Signs From Fullerton, CA

By RetroRuth

Reader Toni sent me these great pictures of mid-century eye candy.  I am loving them, so I thought I would share with all of you!

I am attaching these pics for your use/enjoyment.  Two of them are pictures of Fullerton City Hall. Both are of the front with the concrete block solar screen (faces south)

The other two are from Union Avenue in Bakersfield.  Union Ave. used to be the highway going north to south back in the 1950’s.  It is FILLED with old motels and businesses.  Many of the motels are now apartments.

It’s a pretty run down street, and they even moved the “Welcome to Bakersfield” sign off Union and moved it towards the “new” highway 99.

I have to admit to having a dream of buying one of those old 1950’s motels and redoing it with a 50’s space theme.

Love the idea, Toni.  That Country Motel would look great after an atomic reno. Those poor hotels, they really need someone to love them, and I think you are just the right person for the job!

Do you have some mid-century buildings, signage or homes in your area?  We love to see pictures!  Send them to us at ruth@nopatternrequired.com.
