The Wilson House – Other Rooms

By Sara In AZ

I wanted to do a post on some of the other rooms and details we noticed around the Wilson House.

This is a really cool original wall sconce hanging in the hallway.

Another view of the sconce. Laminate walls too!

Here is a pair of water skis Wilsonart made. They actually used some of their own laminate and made these. How cool is that?

In 2 of the bedrooms they were keeping historical information on the Wilsonart Company such as old signs, laminate pieces, newspaper clippings and other types of historical memorabilia.

Here is an old Wilsonart neon sign and a bunch of laminate chips.

Oooooooohhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Look there is the famous gold fleck, called “White Lame” by Wilsonart.

Here is a surfboard that Wilsonart made! Looks like they liked water sports!

Tons of laminate chips!!! Just look at all those different types of butcher block laminates.

The Wilson House is located in Temple Texas and I highly recommend a tour of this fantastic house, you will not be disappointed. You will need to call ahead and make an appointment, as the house is not open all the time. It is pretty much a one on one tour, so it is really cool to explore around the house by yourself  with the tour guide. The phone number for tours is 254.207.2806 and tours are available Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

Click HERE for a  link to the Wilsonart Website, where there is some more information on the Wilson House.

Next Thursday – The Turquoise Bathroom.

I am loving those sconces! I need to find something like those for my living room, to replace the ugly ones that are there.

I don’t think my heart is strong enough to visit the Wilson House in person. Thanks for the vicarious visit, Sara.

Oh, my goodness! I remember those laminate chips. Someone my dad knew, probably from his days as a contractor, had a bunch of them that he carried around on a ball and chain loop. Sometimes he would let us play with them. They were cool to flip through AND made a fascinating clacking sound when he walked or when we shook them.
