MCM Home Improvement: Design Your Home

By Sablemable aka Jan

If you’re looking to build your MCM- style home or upgrading your present MCM home (uh, upgrading to MCM standards, of course), I found some interactive house designer websites to help you out.

All of the websites I found are free to use and each one has different features,  from painting the walls, landscaping and furnishing your home.  You can save your designs, too and print them out.

Small Blue Printer (www.smallblueprinter.com) is very, very easy to use and I did a floor plan of my 1955 ranch for you to see.   This is a great site, however, they need to add more furnishings.

Number 2 site is Floor Planner (www.floorplanner.com).  I haven’t played much with this site, as it seems a bit more complicated to use, but I love challenges.

The last design website is Home Styler (www.homestyler.com).  On this site, you can view your designs in 2-D and 3-D.   You can paint the walls with Sherwin-Williams paint, install windows by Marvin and carpet or tile your floors.   I had a sample to show you, but for some reason I couldn’t print it out.

Have a ball playing with these websites and if you build or design your homes, send me the designs and I’ll feature them here.

Saraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! As soon as I begin the refurbishing. I’ll be taking before and after photos.

I’m getting estimates done next week for the masonry work by the front door and I’ll be doing a post on that.
