Vintage Book Bonanza

Or, Why I Love Library Book Sales

By RetroRuth

Whew. What a weekend!!! Tom and I were busy cleaning, cooking, entertaining, shopping for fun stuff at the Midland Summer Art Fair, going to a baseball game and…oh yeah, this:

Spending time with the Cutest Baby In The World, aka Piper, our niece. She came to visit this weekend with my sister and her husband. Who I suppose I was happy to see as well. 🙂

In the midst of all this, Tom and I still managed to make it to the library used book sale on the $5 bag day, which is quite possibly one of the greatest things ever.  And our library always has a TON of fun books, including tons of mid-century books, at their twice-yearly sale.  This time we got 26 books for $5,  including:

Burma Shave001

The Verse By The Side Of The Road, by Frank Rowsome, Jr.

Chess Review001

Chess Review Magazine, all of the 1946 issues collected in hardcover. Tom is pretty excited about this one!

Cleansing Dirt001

Chasing Dirt by Suellen Hoy.  I have been wanting to read this one for a while!

Congo Song001

Congo Song by Stuart Cloete, which I pretty much just bought for the awesome cover and tagline: A lush novel of a tempestuous woman alone in a society of men. Sold!

And lots more fun books, which I will be showing you bits and pieces of in the near future!

“I can’t believe you got so many cool books!!”

Wowee! That really IS the cutest baby in the world! And let’s hear it for library book sales! I am intrigued by the “Chasing Dirt” book. The cover alone is enough.
