September 5, 2011Estate Sale At Time Capsule Home With Frigidaire Flip-Up Burners
We were recently lucky enough to stop in at a local estate sale that turned out to be a fabulous brick ranch time-capsule jammed full of great treasures, including an amazing kitchen and some original bathrooms.
Here is the kitchen, with the original cabinets, boomerang Formica and amazing wallpaper!
A nice peninsula and eat-in area with a pull-down light.
A corner window that looks out onto the golf course. The little “mini” cabinets under the upper cabinets are meant to hold cups and glasses.
But here is what blew me away. A Frigidaire range that flips up when it isn’t in use! I LOVE IT! I’ve never seen one of these before anywhere, let alone out in the “wild” and still functioning. It reminds me of the “Flair” with the pull-out burner drawer, but it didn’t say “Flair” anywhere on it. It is the only appliance in the kitchen that had never been replaced!
Sorry for the dark picture, but this is the best picture I could get of the step-down dining room. There were windows all around, built-in china cabinets and a stone ledge under the back window for serving. Amazing!
I am standing in the dining room here, looking up into the formal living room. The room dividers were awesome, and behind it you can see another built-in. Behind that built-in was a brick fireplace.
The only full bath in the house, but what a bath! Original wallpaper curtains, ceramic tiles, pink sinks! This place was fantastic. And completely pristine!
A pink tub and grey wall tiles. So cute!
Here you can see the detail in the floor, with tiles in two different grays and pink.
Here is one of four bedrooms in the house. Notice the walk-in closet! The door with the “X” on it led to a little baby half bath that was shared by two bedrooms…
With blue tile, a peach sink and a pink Kohler toilet. Also pristine, and also with original wallpaper!
Whew! And even with all of this eye candy, I was able to calm down enough to rummage through the great selection of stuff for sale! Tom and I ended up getting a lamp, some excellent TV trays, glasses, a bathroom scale and a ton of books. But that is a post for another day!
