This IS Your Granny’s Crafting! Kitschmas Fever Edition!

By Betty Crafter

Hey y’all!  Now that Little Betty’s Halloween costume is checked off the list, I can dive headfirst into my true passion – Christmas!  Or as I like to call it, Kitschmas!  If you follow me over at Betty Crafter, you may have seen my tutorials for making your own Kitschmas Wreath like this one:

or rehabbing a vintage Putz house like this:

My goal this week is to figure out how to make this adorable elf card holder:

Too cute, right?  Well the sad thing is that the actual instructions no longer reside in the magazine where I found this.  Someone ripped them out long ago.  Whyyyyyy????  It’s ok though – not only do I intend to recreate it by the picture, I hope to make a tutorial for this as well so you too can have your own kitschy elf to hold all your Christmas cards!

Oh, friends, but that’s not all!  Here’s a few more things I’d like to make from vintage patterns I have laying around:

Have any of you been making any Christmas crafts from vintage patterns or do you plan to this year?  Link it up in the comments!

I wish I had the time to make a Christmas craft this year, but it is just not going to happen. I can’t wait to see the elf card holder though, he looks super cute! I’d love to see that deer bottle topper thing too!

How old does it have to be to qualify for vintage? I have a pattern that I bought before we were married that has a velvet tree skirt as part of the Christmas collection and I was thinking that I would finally make it this year since we’re celebrating our 25th anniversary on Dec. 27th and we’ve been “making do” with bedsheets and an unfinished tree skirt (I really just need to add the bias binding around the edge and then it will done!)that I had screen printed a hobby horse motif onto. The thing is, I managed to make one of these velvet tree skirts for my four siblings when they got married along with one for my parents and The Mister’s parents! Everyone has one but me!

So, nothing deliciously kitschy like yours but I hope to get it done…just because!

I have no idea how old stuff needs to be anymore to be considered vintage! I used to say before the 1980’s, but now I think 80’s stuff is even vintage!
