November 29, 2011This IS Your Granny’s Crafting! Reindeer Wine Bottle Cover Edition
By Betty Crafter
If any of you follow me over at Betty Crafter you already know that I attempted that cute elf cardholder I mentioned last time. It was not my finest moment in crafting. Consequently I had a bit of the wind taken out of my crafting sails. But I pushed through my disappointment to try to redeem my good name and show you something I could be proud of this time!
I decided to try the reindeer wine bottle cover on this pattern I showed you last time:
I was initially keeping my hopes low because I was dealing with incomplete instructions and pattern pieces that were falling apart:
But Little Betty was there to help me trace them onto sturdier paper:
And my loyal pooch offered his opinions from his constant spot by my side:
So with spirits buoyed I soldiered on and made adjustments and executive decisions when I had to.
I actually quite like it! I mean, what’s not to like when felt and miles of ric rack are involved? I used white instead of yellow ric rack as called for, and I think I like the outcome better. That also meant I had to improvise the ric rack colors for the antlers, which I’m also pleased with. The pattern and instructions for his bow tie were missing, so I plan to make one from black velvet ribbon (whenever I find my stash!)
I think this would make a killer hostess gift during the holiday season.
Now that I’ve got some crafting confidence back, what to try next??
