Mad Men 1966

By Sablemable aka Jan

On March 25, 2012, the Mad Men series will enter the year 1966.

Current events abounded; the Vietnam War, the University of Texas shootings, race riots nationwide, the Carnaby Street fashion trend ala mini skirts and boy shirts, but since the show is situated in New York City, here are a few highlights that may affect the characters.

The Subway Strike in January 1966 that lasted 12 days.

Nice pics, Saaaable! I can definitely see the subway strike affecting the characters – Pete doesn’t drive, and I am pretty sure Peggy relays on the subway to get around as well.

Always loved looking for and looking at vintage photos of that time, especially since I was in junior high in 1966.
