Thrifting A Dream: A Vintage Starlight Replogle GlobeQuiet down, please. Quiet.
I have an announcement to make.
Ahem.
My long quest for a vintage Starlight Replogle Globe is now OVER!
I happened upon this pretty baby in the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Mount Pleasant. It was just sitting in the front cabinet, being lonely, when I walked in the door and pounced on it.
“Does it work?” I asked breathlessly, my nose pressed against the glass, “Does it really light up?”
“Yep.”
Oh my goodness, does it ever. Hello, gorgeous!
Replogle, which started in 1930 in an apartment in Chicago and is still in business today, made this glass(!) globe in approximately 1960, based on the names and the countries on the continents. It was designed by Gustav Brueckmann.
I am very, very excited for this one! Anyone else out there have a vintage Replogle globe? Time to share stories!

Love these things. I’ve got one in the traditional colors, but I’d really like one with a black background. Give it a little extra wow factor.

I totally know what you mean! It was just icing on the cake that it was the Starlight version. Now I have to keep an eye out for a traditional one.

I love that it lights up!! I have a regular vintage Replogle from when I was a kid, but it does not light up.
