The Brave Never Die – A Memorial Day Tribute

By RetroRuth

Let no vandalism of avarice or neglect, no ravages of time, testify to the present or to the coming generations, that we have forgotten, as a people, the cost of a free and undivided Republic.

Thanks, Sable. When I came across these photos in my grandpa’s collection, I knew they would make a moving post for Memorial Day. And yes, thank you so much to ALL members of the armed forces!

Thank you for this. My Great Uncle Leonard served, Utah Beach, 1944. He’s 93 now, and it’s hard to imagine what these now frail, elderly men accomplished in the days of their youth. It’s something to think about today.

No problem, Laura! Tom Brokaw was right, they really are the Greatest Generation!

That Minot J. Savage quote is incredible. We were over at the military cemetery today and it was so heartening to see so many people there visiting graves and paying their respects in general. It’s good to see people remember that today isn’t about grilling out and lake parties.

I agree, Eartha. I tears came to my eyes when I read it!

I am glad you went to the cemetery to pay your respects. We owe them so very, very much!
