June 19, 2012This IS Your Granny’s Crafting! Copycat Edition
By Betty Crafter
I am proud to announce The Great Craft Block of ’12 is OVER! And I owe it all to Andrea and her review of Simplicity 7276.
Yes, I totally copied Andrea. Whatevs. You don’t mind, right Andrea? Your version was just so stinkin’ cute that I just had to run right out and get that pattern so I could make one for Little Betty! And it was just what the doctor ordered for my craft block. Fun and simple (although it took me much longer than the 1.5 hours it took Andrea!) and I got it done in an afternoon. Plus I even exercised some artistic license, which I rarely do with patterns.
First, my palette:
The fabric is vintage feedsack I got at the Warrenton Antique Festival a couple of months ago. I absolutely cannot resist anything with a Pennsylvania Dutch pattern. The buttons are vintage from my stash. The only change I made was to draft some tulip patch pockets instead of the called for pockets in the pattern, which I made from the blue fabric. And here she is in all her glory!
I’m really happy with how it turned out, and so is Little Betty! She couldn’t wait for me to finish it so she could try it on. Now maybe I’m recharged enough to finish that skirt!
