Mid Century Modern Duplexes

By Sablemable

I got another home plan magazine, this time with multi-family/duplex designs or “mini-ranches” as I like to call them.  There is no publication year listed in the Garlinghouse Income Property & Retirement Homes issue, but it appears to be from the Sixties.

The first duplex is the one at the top of the magazine cover.  Very “atomic” looking on the outside.

What’s not to like about this duplex?  It has wrought iron, crank-out windows, shutters and metal lawn chairs!

This duplex has a nice layout, plus an attached garage.

Instead of separate utility/laundry rooms, this duplex shares a basement.

On a lesser note, me and the hubby Bob, are getting ready to begin on the kitchen, refinish a great Craigslist buy and hopefully lay some new flooring.  All restorations will be photographed.

So next Friday (or Sunday) I’ll be seeking your help, readers, with the finer details of MCM decorating.

Stay tuned.

Those are great! Your projects sound exciting, can’t wait to read more. I think once we get through summer we’ll really start in on the painting and decorating of our new 50s ranch.

The bottom one has very similar floor plan(s) to my duplex which was built in 1958. Awesome! Thanks for sharing!!
