This IS Your Granny’s Crafting! Sewing Caddy Craft-along Edition

By Betty Crafter

I think this little sewing caddy is darn cute. So darn cute, in fact, that I am going to make it, right here with all my friends at No Pattern Required, bit by bit so you can follow along and make one too if you so desire! Can’t you just imagine this sweet little lady hanging out by your sewing machine, cheerfully holding your pattern, measuring tape, scissors, etc so they are always helpfully at hand yet not in the way? Let’s do it! If you’re interested, here’s what you’ll need to have when we start crafting 2 weeks from today:
Pencil, ruler, paper for patterns, scissors, scalloping shears, straight pins, hole punch.
Felt – Emerald green for background 7 1/4″ x 37 1/2″; bright pink for backing 7 5/8″ x 38″; large and small pieces of emerald green, dark green, chartreuse, bright and light pink, red, light and bright orange, gold, flesh color, brown; White sewing thread; Cardboard disk 4 3/8″ diameter; Scrap of heavy white paper; red felt tipped marker; rouge; brass curtain ring 1 1/4″ diameter; all purpose glue.

And just for fun, I’m going to end today’s post with the vintage ski masks of your deepest nightmares:

Fun for the whole family! You are welcome.

The sewing caddy is so cute! But you’re right — those ski masks are a nightmare! So scary!

Those ski masks might actually be more frightening than clowns!

Things you never thought you’d post on a Mid-century enthusiast blog: The clown masks are reminding me of Insane Clown Posse. And not in the good way. Of course, is there any “good” way to be reminded of ICP? Not really.

The sewing caddy looks really cute!

Oh those masks……seriously would any kid be caught dead in that one that looks like a Chicken?!? Lord have mercy!

I love how the little girl mask has yarn hair and flesh colored yarn for the face – like they were really trying to make it look natural. They are truly terrifying! I think we should all make one of these to gift to a lucky family member for Christmas this year!

Lol, those ski masks were actually COOL when I was a kid! My mom made me the girl one. (but I’m sure it was MUCH cuter without the BLUE yarn!) And that “chicken” one was actually an Indian… My brothers had them! 😀
