August 8, 2012Wondering Wednesday – Vickie’s Question Leads to The Discovery of Fantastic Retro Wallpaper from Wallpaper Direct UK
Hey everyone! Today’s Wondering Wednesday question is from Vickie, who writes:
Got a question for Sara, or any of you that might know of an online source for retro wallpaper. I’m terrible at surfing the web & end up frustrated so thought one of you could maybe steer me in a right direction.
(from Spongecurlers & cupcakes)
Well, it turns out there were a lot of answers to Vickie’s question!
I haven’t ordered from them yet, but Bradbury & Bradbury has a gorgeous selection of retro wallpaper. http://www.bradbury.com/index.html Everything from Victorian to mod 60s prints!
Eartha Kitsch writes:
Try Rosie’s Vintage Wallpaper and Hannah’s Treasures which seem to be two big ones. Though, I’ve never heard from anyone who has used any except for Bradbury and Bradbury like Andrea was saying. They get good reviews, I know.
Betty Crafter writes:
You took the words out of my mouth Eartha! Rosie’s and Hannah’s are definitely the first place i look.
But, I have to admit, it was Sara in AZ who really blew us all away when she sent Vickie the link to Wallpaper Direct UK and pointed out all the great retro papers they had! In fact, I ordered a bunch of samples for myself because I was so excited! They arrived last week, and I am super pumped to share them with you.
It is hard to pick a favorite, but this one might be it!
Muscat by Miss Print (available in LOTS of colors!)
Another color of the Muscat print.
Jazz Cream Rosanna by Arthouse (available in other colorways!)
Dotty by Graham and Brown (available in other colorways!)
Housewives by Graham and Brown. This one is super-de-duper cute. It is a puffy, almost foam-like texture, which I guess is hypoallergenic according to the website!
Starting on the left and moving left to right:
James Albany Conversation by Albany (available in other colorways!)
Moonlight by Albany (available in other colorways!)
I ordered a bunch of samples (first two were free, the rest cost me a few bucks each) and I received them very promptly. The samples were a good size, as you can see, and several pieces were sent of a pattern if the print was large so I could see all the colors. Just to let you know, though, there were some awesome patterns that weren’t available for export to the US, so be forewarned!
And this is only the tip of the iceberg over at Wallpaper Direct! Head over to the website and search for “retro” to see some really awesome wallpaper.
Thanks for the great question, Vickie!
