Halloween Candy-What’s In Your Paper Bag?By Sablemable
Those of us who were children during the Fifties and Sixties remember the Halloween nights of costumes and candy.
We would walk through the neighborhood carrying our grocery sacks, ring the doorbells and yell, “Trick or treat,” when the doors opened.

Then the treats would literally fly into our open bags and here are some of the candies we would receive.

Fudgies!!! I had forgotten about those…do they still make them, I wonder? Fifth Avenue bars were always my favorite! We know of a place that still sells some of these old candies–even the candy cigarettes!

Hi, Pat!
I haven’t seen Fudgies around in ages, only the caramels. I’ve seen vintage candy stores online where they have the candy cigarettes. LOL, I never pretended to “smoke” them; I just liked the flavor of them!

Mmmmm caramels! I am going to buy candy tonight, I am going to have to pick some up for me. As for my favourite candy as a kid, without a doubt it was Rockets (I believe you guys call them Smartees in the US).

Andreaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!
I passed the candy aisle and had seriously looked at the caramels, but…….
I love Smartees aka Rockets! Good to know if I’m ever in Canada again that I’ll be able to find them!

I certainly ate my share of these candies when I was a little girl. I’d cash in bottles and buy a candy bar and an Archie & Veronica or Little Lulu comic book.
But seriously…..where are the FUDGIES?! They were amazingly good.
So weird that they aren’t around anymore.
