Check It Out Everyone…………A Great New Website About Our Hero William ‘Wild Bill’ Copp!

By Sara In AZ

Some of you may remember a post I did about 2 years ago when I found a bunch of vintage black and white photographs at Goodwill. The photographs were  all these spectacular images of Bill Copp and The Bob Hope Christmas Show for the Vietnam Troops in 1966.

Here are a few images from that post

Lt. Col. Copp (middle) was the Chief of the NORAD Briefing Team. NORAD stands for North American Air Defense Command.

And Lt. Col. Copp interviewing Bob Hope.

Amazing pictures right?!?

Well, that was not the end of the story. Bill Copp’s  daughter caught wind of my post and one thing led to another and before I knew it Mike and I were invited to meet Bill Copp and tour his museum.

Here are a few pictures from that post

This is a photo of Bill when he was with NORAD and that is a model of his very favorite airplane to fly – a Sabreliner. Bill went on to explain to me that he flew Bob Hope to a funeral in one of these planes.

Here Bill is reunited with his pictures that accidentally wound up at Goodwill.

Here is a picture of Bill and I as we wind down the evening.

It was great meeting with Bill Copp, but I just knew there was SO much more to the man……more than I could ever know in just a few short hours. Well, I am super excited to tell everyone that I was just contacted with information that there is a new website all about our beloved Bill Copp!

Here is a summary of One Who Came Back

onewhocameback.com was first published on September 15, 2012 for Lt. Colonel William H. “Wild Bill” Copp on his 89th birthday. It is both a tribute to him and his extraordinary life. More than just a biography the website gives the viewer snippets and snapshots of history. About every two months another chapter will be published. The next one is due November 15, 2012.”

I am thrilled about this new site and I cannot wait to learn more about Bill Copp, I think it will be a great tribute to one amazing man!

Be sure to check out One Who Came Back today!

What a great story and such an honor to meet that gentleman :-)
We are losing so many vets from the era every day; my own father would have been 86 this year :-)
    Thanks for sharing Sara.

It totally was an honor to meet him Sherree!

I know what you mean about losing so many WWII vets….my Grandfather passed about 15 years ago, he served in WWII and was on Iwo Jima……….I wish SO MUCH now that I had more time with him to ask him all about his life experiences.

      Glad you enjoyed! :)
