November 6, 2012This IS Your Granny’s Crafting! Sewing Caddy Completion!
When we last left off we had finished drawing our pattern pieces on our 1 inch graph paper. This week we will complete our sewing caddy!
First, I transfered all my pattern pieces to another sheet of paper by holding them up to a window and tracing.
Next, cut out all the pattern pieces, using scalloping shears (or pinking as I did b/c my scalloping shears were not cooperating) on the pink background, the bonnet, the girl’s top, and the skirt trim.
Next, sew the leaves to the apple, the apple to the apron (leaving the top open for a pocket), the apron to the skirt (leaving the top open for a pocket), the bird to the square, the hearts to one rectangle, and the tulip and leaves to the other rectangle. Stitch 2 arms together, sandwiching 2 hand pieces at the end. Do the same for the other arm.
Now sew the pink background to the green background, sandwiching in a hanging strip with the hanging ring. Stitch the bonnet to the top. Stitch the shirt to the background with the arm underneath at shoulder. Stitch skirt to background, leaving top open for pocket. Stitch square and rectangular pockets, leaving top open.
Glue on the face, hair, bow, and buttons. Glue hands to waist. Use hole punch on white paper and glue the dots on apple and for bird’s eye. I also elected to use some on the eyes although it wasn’t called for.
And we’re done! I have to say I wasn’t expecting to like this thing so much, but I really do! I think it will be really useful in my sewing space and I love the bright colors.
It was a bit fiddly with all the pieces, but I’m quite happy with the result! Finally, a finished product!
