Devils Food Cake Mix Cookies……..Yuuuuummmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

By Sara In AZ

Do you ever have those days where you REALLY want to make cookies but you just don’t have all the ingredients………or you are feeling kinda lazy and just don’t want to go to ALL that trouble??? Well then, this is the perfect recipe for you!

I completely admit that I am not a fantabulous baker like our RetroRuth, I like to take the easy way out if I can……and this recipe well, I don’t think it can get any easier.

Maybe I am behind the curve on this one and most of you have seen of/heard of/made this recipe, but for those of you who haven’t and who need a quick snack during this busy holiday season this is super perfect and super delicious!

Mike and I were cruising the web one day looking for recipes when we came across this  Devils Food Cake Mix Cookies recipe. I was a kind of skeptical, but intrigued. I just could not really envision what a cookie made out of cake mix would taste like. But I was all in for trying it!

OK, OK, so my recipe is not necessarily “vintage”, but I promise to ONLY use vintage dishware while making  these cookies!

I’ll bet you are thinking right about now “What is this so-called super easy recipe Sara?” Check it out!

1 Box Duncan Hines Devils Food Cake Mix

2 Eggs

1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil

1/2 Cup Chocolate Chips

Nuts are optional

Preheat your oven to 375 and bake 8-10 minutes.

I know, SO easy it’s almost crazy isn’t it!?! Oh and see I used our little Blue Heaven ramekins there…only vintage – just like I promised! Smile

First you dump the cake mix into a bowl, then dump the 2 eggs in. We only had the egg whites in a carton (not real whole eggs) when I made this recipe and it turned out just fine.

Second egg is now in!

Now you add a 1/2 cup of oil.

And mix away!

I have to warn you that the batter will be fairly thick. That’s just the way it is…..keep on mixing until everything is combined.

When everything is mixed together you can add in your chips and mix those in.

Mixing again!

And finally adding the walnuts.

And giving it one last mix!

Here we are…..the cookies are all ready to go. See how easy that was!

And here is another vintage bowl. This is one of my all time favorite mixing bowls. I LOVE those aqua diamonds all over it. I got this bowl years ago at an antique store for only $3.

I rolled my dough into approximately 1 inch rounds and placed the balls about 2 inches apart. I cooked the cookies for 8 minutes and let them cool for about 10 minutes before I just couldn’t take it anymore and had to have one!

And there you go…..the finished chocolate cookies on top of a Starburst plate!

I have to say they are REALLY god cookies, they are almost like a cross between a brownie and a cookie because they stay very moist on the inside. If you need a quick cookie fix this might be just the recipe for you!

I think I need a another cookie now!

Have a FABULOUS Christmas everyone!!!

Those look great! And nope, I’ve never heard of that recipe before. Thank God that I don’t have a box of cake mix hanging around right now because I do have those other ingredients – I’d be taking down cookies at ten in the morning if so.

I’m not sure what’s making me drool more – the cookies or your fantastic table and dish ware!

I think that’s the only cake mix I ever buy. I usually just mix a box of it with plain pumpkin puree for delicious dense chocolate cupcakes! I’ll have to try the cookies.

Definitely try the cookies MidModChris, I think you’ll love them! Your cupcakes sound pretty awesome too – I’ll have to give those a try one of these days!

I will have to try this one. I actually have a simpler one with Lemon Cake mix, 1 egg and Cool whip topping. That’s it! combine and roll in confectioners sugar and bake at 350 for 10 min. I do not however have the fantastic mcm dishes to serve on tho! Cheers!

I’m in the process of making these right now! I’m very excited for the turn out. I’m going ten minutes cook time. They seem gooey to me. I’m hoping the cool time will assist!
