This Is Your Granny’s Crafting – Try A Little Kindness
By Betty Crafter
Y’all, I am a crewel tornado and I cannot be stopped! I am on a roll – look out ’cause if you’re in the way you will be left flattened, bewildered, and covered in chain stitches and french knots of every jewel tone in the rainbow.
I have finished my Try A Little Kindness wall hanging! Yipee!
Although I had some hiccups, I’m in love with the end result. I learned a couple of important lessons with this project. First, stretcher bars! I’m all about them. No more messy embroidery hoops for me! I blogged about it
here if you’d like a how-to.
Also, I learned that it is very important to match up the wool to your color chart BEFORE beginning the project. I did not do this and later discovered that this kit had red, red orange, bright orange, pale orange, burnt orange, and gold. Yikes! Needless to say I had already made some color mistakes by this time. No matter! It turned out to be a bit of a happy accident because I think the color placement I ended up with is a bit more vibrant than what’s called for. Yay me!
And voila! I have a new fabulous crewel for my cluster.
I need to rearrange them all – they’re a bit cattywampus at the moment. But I’m holding off because you know me – I’ve got something else brewing that needs to be worked in…

I Love this! I was hoping to find this kit tonight on the internet. If anyone can tell me where I can find one, I would greatly appreciate it. My Mom made this when I was a child and we had it hanging in our living room. I don’t know what happened to it over the years and wish I still had it since my mothers passing.
