March 7, 2013Mid-Centurian’s Back To The Fifties Room
By Sara In AZ
I have a super fun post for y’all this week! I came across the website www.mid-centurian.com a few years back and I was super impressed with the collection of chalkware and other 50s kitsch this couple had acquired. I had always wanted to showcase this room on the blog, but then I lost the link. ugh. I FINALLY came across the site again and promptly saved it so I would not lose it again. YAY!!!
Here is a little background info from the homepage of their site:
In 1990 the Mid-Centurians began furnishing their “Back-to-the-Fifties” room by shopping garage sales, thrift stores, second hand stores, antique stores, and later eBay. They continue to search today for “treasures” including Relco mosaic figurines, Universal Statuary ethnic figural chalkware, unusual Hyalyn ashtrays, black wire and chalkware wall decor, unique TV lamps, and Mirro Medallion aluminum ware.
Sounds completely awesome doesn’t it!
I tried to contact ‘Mid-Centurian’ through the e-mail address on the site, but all my messages came back “undeliverable”, so if you are still out there Mid-Centurian thanks for all the fun and the great pics!!!
Soooooooo, what is this mysterious “Back To The Fifties Room” you ask……………well let’s check it out!
Ummmmm, I could totally live in this room for the rest of my life and be completely happy!
Just check out all of the awesome-ness!
The shadowbox…..the lamps…..the ballerinas……someone quick pass the smelling salts!
I LOVE it all!!!! It’s just AMAZING isn’t it!!!!!
Definitely check out the Mid-Centurian’s website as there are other cool things to see too – he has interviews with past employee’s of Universal Statuary, there are even scans of old Universal Statuary catalogs, and other fun pictures too!
