Girl’s Day Antiquing Trip In Bay City, MI

By RetroRuth

I had a really fun “girls-only” antiquing trip with my girlfriend Deb the other weekend. We parked Tom and her husband, Dan, at home with beer and some tamales and went out to a warehouse estate sale and then on to the Bay City Antique Center. I didn’t get any shots of the big estate sale because it was packed with people and, well…the stuff wasn’t the greatest. As Deb said, it looked like it was a bunch of stuff that had “lived a hard life”. So, lots of wear, chips and rips in everything. I walked out with a pile of cheap cookbooks, but that was about it.

We had much more fun at the Bay City Antique Center.

Check out this CHAIR!  Love. It.

This dark green chair was in the same booth and I loved it, too.

Since it was just the girls, we were able to spend more time looking at dolls and clothes instead of getting rushed past them to look at oil cans and ashtrays. Here is a lovely display case that I spent quite a bit of time in front of! Gotta love Barbie.

Here are some Barbie head vases which are on the newer side, but I still thought they were great.

Some authentically vintage lady heads. And also some clown heads at the bottom. Which I didn’t like so much.

These glasses were so awesome, and Deb really wanted me to get them for our bar, but Tom has so many glasses already! In the end I passed on them, but still ended up getting cookbooks (of course) some vintage Sherwin Williams pamphlets (coming soon!) and some records. All in all, it was a great girl’s day out!

Looks like a fun day! How do you remember which cookbooks you already have? I’m thinking of starting a spreadsheet to take around with me. Totally geeky I know.

You know, I don’t know how I remember. I guess because I read the ones I have all the time and am always working with them, maybe it makes it easier to remember? Either way, though, I usually try not to spend more than $1 or 50 cents on cookbooks, so on the rare occasion I do buy a double it isn’t a big deal. Then it is time for a giveaway! 🙂

Oh, but I don’t think the spreadsheet is geeky! I have a spreadsheet to remember what I’ve posted and made for the blog, so geeks unite! 🙂

One of the things I miss most about living in Michigan is antiquing in Bay City. Looks like fun!
