Retro Goodies We Found on Our Antiquing Road Trip!

By Sara In AZ

Sooooooooo, I know you all are wondering ……..what did Sara find on that antiquing trip???

Well, here goes!

We bought these funny ceramic  little girl figurines. I debated on getting these, but then Mike said, “Aren’t you getting those little figurines?” Then I figured if he was encouraging me – well, why not! We went back and forth about what these little girls were supposed to be dressed up as – Mike was going with zebras, I thought white tigers…..Mom said they could even be dressed up in prison stripes…..hee! But then Mike brought up the fact that people in prison wouldn’t necessarily have a special head cap/ears as a part of their prison uniform. Ha! Oh well, I’m sticking with white tigers! Anybody out there have any opinions? I’ve never seen these before and I just thought they were so super cute!

We saw these flamingo planters and I knew I instantly loved them. It is hard to tell from this picture, but there are actually planters behind each of the flamingos. I was not sure if we should bring them home or not, but in the end the lady at the antique store cut us a good deal so we decided to go for it!

I also bought this vintage dress. Even though it is not my size it was far too cool and cheap to pass up.

I’m pretty sure it’s a dead stock dress, as you can see the paper tag still attached to the Dress Town fabric label.

The dress has a cool peplum at the waist and it also has the original belt.

The back of the peplum is lined and it is edged with some heavy grosgrain ribbon.

Here is a picture of the back, it has buttons up the back. SO cute!

And finally, we found this green vinyl stool. Again, we debated. We are pretty much out of room here for furniture-y type things and I was wondering where this would go…………..…would we really use it???

But Mike had other plans in mind……………………….

He thought it would be perfect for our cat Midnight! And he was right, ever since we brought the green stool home she has been OBSESSED with it!

Well, that wraps up all our recent finds, has anyone found anything cool while checking out your local antique stores???

Eeeeee!!!! A stool for Midnight!!!! How freaking cute!!! What a perfect place for her to sleep. And bonus on the vinyl – easy to clean!

Those girls are so cute. I am glad you didn’t leave them behind! I am going to have to go with Mike on the zebra thing, though. 🙂

I know, I’m shocked she actually likes it as much as she does……I need to cover our entire house in vinyl! 🙂

      Uh-oh – that’s 2 votes for zebras now! hee!

Awesome finds, Sara! I wish I could convince my dogs to sleep on an easy to clean, cool vintage vinyl stool, rather than leaving their hair everywhere, LOL! I think I have to go with white tigers on the little girl figurines, based on the ears. And I absolutely love those flamingo planters, those are awesome!

Thanks Andrea! Believe me, I wish I could contain the cat fur to just the stool area…..somehow Midnight manages to get it ALL over the house just like your dogs!

YAY! 2 votes for white tigers!!!!

Now that I have the planters here I am really glad we picked them up!
