June 4, 2013This IS Your Granny’s Crafting! Mary Dollies Edition
So, in classic Betty fashion, I have completed exactly 0% of my crewel pillow road trip project. I still have hopes of getting some done on my trip, but I have utterly disappointed myself thus far. However, I do have something to show you that I have recently come across, thanks to a dear friend who always looks out for me and knows exactly what I like.
What we have here folks are several 1940s Mary’s Dollies booklets. They are full of patterns for doll clothes for the Mary Hoyer doll.
If Little Betty had a Mary Hoyer doll, I would definitely have to make her this Greta dress!
Also in the “must make for a hypothetical doll” category is this figure skating outfit! Isn’t it the cutest?? Surprisingly there were several figure skating outfit patterns in the booklets. I can’t criticize, though – it’s a good look!
In addition to patterns for knitted outfits, the booklets also include some traceable patterns for sewed outfits, like this one for an evening gown.
If it were 1946 I would definitely order the kit for this sweet as pie ballet costume!
So, I think I’m going to head over to ebay and see about getting Little Betty a Mary Hoyer doll so I can make her doll outfits for every gift giving occasion!
