July 15, 2013Please Welcome Tanya And Her Gorgeous Day Dresses from Style Me Betty!
I always love getting new sponsors for the blog. I think of No Pattern Required as a little community, and it is always fun when we welcome new people into our community. Everyone brings something a little different and introduces everyone to vintage items or products that we might not have found on our own or, in some cases, stuff we didn’t even know existed! Case and point is our new sponsor, Tanya, who is the owner of the fabulous Style Me Betty shop and is from Denmark!
Isn’t she adorable? Her online shop is adorable as well. Not only does it have some super-fab day dresses, hats and accessories, it also has adorable graphics!
Make sure you check out the “Look Book” over in her shop! Not only is it fun to flip through, but there are some great style ideas there as well!
Tanya was nice enough to answer some of my questions so we can all get to know her a little better and take a peek into her store and her life.
1. How did you get started selling vintage? What was your inspiration?
I had just finished university and had two small kids. I’ve always known that I wanted to be independent and do something on my own. And thanks to my husband I’ve been able to pursue this adventure!
I’ve always been fascinated by unique clothes and accessories that you can’t just go and buy. At the same time, I’ve studied English culture studies and English history for many years at university and I definitely love the whole ‘aura’ about vintage items. So my desire to find unique items with a history and a certain style was combined with my wish to have my own business.
2. What is the focus of your vintage shop?
The shop is about what I would define as ‘everyday vintage’ and everything is original vintage from 1940s-1960s . The shop is meant to offer affordable but very high standard vintage clothing and accessories which can be used on a daily basis. I myself love all accessories and therefore I have a lot of hats, jewelry, shoes and other sometimes quirky items. The shop is also designed to be very user friendly and much as you would expect a ‘non-vintage’ shop to be.
3. Do you have any vintage or retro collections? We would love to hear about them, in detail!
I’m afraid I’m pretty boring when it comes to my personal wardrobe or vintage collections. I love vintage photographs and I am very grateful for online image sources like Pinterest! I definitely also has a weakness for everything extravagant and over-the-top like BIG and bold fruit earrings and glitter shoes. But they rarely get aired.
4. Have you always loved vintage?
Yes absolutely. But for many years I didn’t know that a vintage community existed which of course meant a lot for me to discover.
5. What does your house look like right now?
Oh god. Like I’ve been invaded by Ikea and are being held hostage by four-year-old twins!
6. What is your favorite vintage possession? What is the story behind how you came to own it?
It has to be an old cine film box from my Grandmother’s. I keep my ribbons and present decorations in it and I love it.
7. If you could have anything to eat right now, what would it be?
A double whopper meal!
I think I speak for everyone here, Tanya, when I say that I hope to see some pictures of those fruit earrings in the future! They sound super fab.
What about you guys? Do you have a special “everyday vintage” item that you love? Let’s discuss in the comments, and make sure to welcome Tanya and check out her awesome shop, Style Me Betty.
