This IS Your Granny’s Crafting! Finished Sundress Edition

Y’all remember my 70s sundress aspirations, yes? Well, it’s finished! Now, don’t get too excited. It’s not exactly a win. I think I’d call it a “meh.” Let me preface by saying, this is why I rarely sew for myself. I never seem to end up with a garment that fits correctly. I need to take a class or something. This dress isn’t exactly flattering. I’d go as far as to say that it adds about 15 pounds to me. I even hesitate to put pictures of myself wearing it on the interwebs for all to see, but in the interest of journalism, here ya go.

It came out WAY too baggy, so I had to take it in about 1.5 inches on each side, which really improved the fit. Still, though, it’s awfully big, and as I mentioned, doesn’t really do me many favors.

But there are positives! I love the drape of the fabric, my on-the-fly self drafted pockets turned out to function fine, and it’s super comfy! I can see myself wearing this dress around the house or on errands. Nowhere fancy though.

And thanks to Little Betty for taking these pictures! Not bad for a 4 year old, huh?

Oh! It’s ADORABLE, you look adorable! It’s a little big, you could easily take it in some more. But you wouldn’t want anything tight and fitted in hot weather. For wearing around the house and doing errands? Perfect. And did I say you look adorable?

Lori, the shoes aren’t vintage! They’re Swedish Hasbeens. They’re super comfy too!

I think this is really cute. In fact, this pattern looks way familiar to me. I wouldn’t be surprised if I made this same dress way back in the seventies!

It’s adorable!! My mom made me one almost like it back in the 70’s but without a belt. And I had her use silk ribbon for the strap ties. Would you believe I still have it tucked in a trunk?!
