This IS Your Granny’s Crafting! Kid Sweaters Edition

by Betty Crafter

It never fails – right about August I start thinking about my long neglected knitting needles and start scouting out projects. I’ve got a few things in mind that I’d like to knit this year, and one of them is a new sweater for Little Betty. Kids grow so fast that it kind of makes sense to knit them a new sweater every year.  So….I pulled a few vintage patterns out of my stash hoping that y’all can help me decide which one to do!

Option #1 – Owl Cowichan:

We all know how much Mama Crafter loves her a good cowichan, and OWLS!  Always a crowd pleaser.  Plus, matching hat!  Yay!

Option #2 – Fawn Cowichan:

Just like the owl cowichan, fawns are always a favorite.  I’ve already knitted her a squirrel cowichan – maybe she needs a whole collection of woodland themed sweaters?  Speaking of woodland themed sweaters…

Option #3 – Gnome Sweater:

Gah!!!  Can  you even believe this?  My head is spinning with possible color combinations.  The mushrooms are SMILING, people!!

Option #4 – Cottage Sweater:

I’m not sure you can handle this one folks!

Did your eyeballs spontaneously combust from the high voltage cute??  Well if you still have your sight, feast it on the back of the sweater:

That kitty in the window slays me.  I’m seriously in love with this sweater.

So what do you say, friends?  Which one should I tackle this year for my darling girl?

I vote you rework the pattern and make a gnome cowichan. Then please send me the pattern, because I want to make one too.

Ooooh, OWLS! That’s my vote. Or I agree with Cedar, figure out a combo and make a gnome cowichan, that would totally be the heigh of cuteness!

Ok guys, that’s actually a brilliant idea – a gnome cowichan?? Why didn’t I think of that? It would be pretty easy to do, I think. Hmmm….

I have to admit, Sara, as much as I am totally going to adapt the elf sweater into a cowichan at some point, I am leaning towards the cottage sweater first 🙂

Oh my gosh, that’s way too many wonderful options. I think I would do the owls, to continue your woodland theme from last year. More importantly, what sweater am I going to knit for my little girl???
