Won’t You Be My Neighbor – The Max Factor Compound In Palm Springs, CA

By RetroRuth

Hol. Lee. Nuts. We will call this the dreaming edition of Won’t You Be My Neighbor. Thanks to reader Jim, we can get a sneak peek into the Max Factor Compound in Palm Springs. This listing is one of the greatest listings ever, because it isn’t just one time capsule, but seven time capsules in one! So, fair warning, you are going to see a LOT of photos in this post!

This huge home is listed with CARETS / HK Lane Real Estate, even though our information comes from Estately.  There are seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, the house is more than 6,000 square feet, and it is listed for $1,785,000. From the listing:

The former Max Factor compound and the recipient of a Palm Springs Modern Committee preservation award, this is a truly unique opportunity to own a piece of Palm Springs History and invite all your friends and family to join in on the fun! The Fontenell. Seven carefully appointed suites surround a triangular shaped swimming pool creating a self contained compound. Each suite contains a full kitchen, dining area, sitting room, bedroom and bath. Each apartment is meticulously furnished in beautiful furniture of the period. No two are exactly alike and you need only bring your tooth brush as this special property is sold completely furnished. Meticulously restored, carefully researched, there is nothing quite like The Fontenell. A special place where you can mingle with your guests while offering them a place of their own. Can also function as a corporate retreat, event space or boutique hotel.

Woah. I don’t even know where to start. The furniture is amazing. And I am pretty sure I saw at least two wall fridges in those kitchens! I might have mixed up some of the rooms in different suites, but what suite is your favorite? What room?  I really love suite five!

Looks like they bought a truckload of Brasilia bedroom suites. Wow. Now I want a turquoise kitchen. (Actually, I already wanted a turquoise kitchen!)

Are wall fridges those upper cabinets with metal at the bottom. If so, it looks like four of the kitchens have them….how cool! These suites are wonderful!

All the suites are “fun”! I love the turquoise kitchens. But, I like suite one the best. The touch of pink appliances with the white kitchen had me at hello.
