August 7, 2013Retro Pattern Review – Style 4641
While I was digging through my stash looking for a flower girl dress pattern, I came across this pattern from 1974, Style 4641. Super cute, and perfect for the fabric that Ella picked out a couple of weeks ago!
I decided to go for the sleeveless view, and to skip the ric rack since the princess fabric is pretty busy. Loved the little bow, though, so I decided to use that element.
Not many alterations to this pattern. Made the bodice a little bigger to get more wear out of it. I was going to lengthen it, but there was a 2-1/4″ hem allowance, and I decided to do a rolled hem.
This pattern really went together quickly and easily, and came out super cute! Although it’s from ’74, I find it’s got almost even more of a vintage vibe to it, with the half circle skirt and bow.
Although it will be good for the rest of the summer, come fall Ella can put a long sleeved shirt and leggings underneath, and get some more wear out of it.
And most importantly, Ella loves her new dress!
Also – as decided by popular vote last week, the flower girl dress will be Simplicity 4878!
Stay tuned – I will be doing a retro pattern review and progress updates for this one as well!
