Vintage Bridal Gown Display at Sempliners Bridal in Bay City

By RetroRuth

Oh, how I love wedding dresses! It doesn’t matter if they are fancy or simple, poufy or sleek, handmade or designer, in my eye every wedding dress is gorgeous.  But vintage dresses, wedding or otherwise, always make my heart pound just a little bit faster!

Needless to say, I was thrilled this weekend when I came across this display in the HUGE window of Sempliners Bridal in Bay City, MI. A mass of vintage wedding dresses were on display, and there were some real beauties.

According to the display information, these are all dresses from the area and were on lone to Sempliners from the families.

Some of the dresses even had little items on loan with them, like wedding photos and announcements. Is this 1957 couple adorable?

I loved being able to see the dresses and then see the dresses on the brides in the photographs. It made everything so much more real.

Sorry about the reflections! One of the perils of take photos through glass on a sunny day. But this dress is so pretty, I didn’t think you guys would mind that much.

Lovely! If you live in the Bay City area, these dresses are up right now, so you should go on over and take a look.

I love old bridal gowns! What a beautiful display at that shop.
Our town also has a similar display at our Historical Society Museum. Thank you for sharing.

Judith’s dress looks kind of like mine. I’m neither married nor engaged (but we’re living together) and I know when to snag a piece of wearable history when I see it 🙂 Buying a dress pre-engagement was a total Liz Lemon moment but it fits like a glove and was so worth it.
