Celebrate The End Of summer With A Trip To Vintage Cypress Gardens, Florida

By RetroRuth

This is it! It’s summer’s unofficial last gasp, and I think we need to celebrate Labor Day in style. So let’s take a trip to vintage Florida where we can visit Cypress Gardens and see their amazing Aquamaids!

The Aquamaids performing their water ski ballet at Florida’s beautiful Cypress Gardens.

Look at their costumes. I love those swimcaps!

Rising above the waters of Lake Eloise at beautiful Cypress Gardens are gnarled cypress knees that actually “breathe” for the century old cypress trees they seem to guard.

Can you see the girls dressed like Southern Belles? No?

Beauty on Parade: The Aquamaids of Cypress Gardens ski in four daily water ski shows and really exemplify the youthful spirit of Flordia as they skim over the water in formation.

An array of floral beauty surrounds the gazebo at Florida’s Cypress Gardens. The winding waterways and lagoons add to the serenity and peacefulness unequalled anywhere in the world. That’s why Cypress Gardens is know as “America’s Tropical Wonderland.”

Ahhh…that’s better. Now I can pretend that summer will never be over, and that I am sitting in a giant Southern Belle dress under a cypress tree…

Hope you have a great Labor Day!

What a beautiful, peaceful picture of the gazebo at Florida Cypress Gardens. I’d love that as a screensaver. Heck, I’d love a poster of it up on the wall.

I had the pleasure of visiting Cypress Gardens [or more specifically what’s left of it at LEGOLAND] in October of 2012. It is still amazingly beautiful. The walk to the Gazebo was amazing. The Belles are still there…now made from Legos!

The waterskiing girls are gone now, replaced with waterskiing Lego pirates.

Add in the Lego miniature cities and some fun rides, still worth the trek out there….

Awwwwww, what a bummer that the Aquamaids are gone now….so sad…they looked just lovely! I’ll bet it was just beautiful in it’s heyday!

I visited there in the mid-late 70’s, and it still looked like the photos you have shown. What a beautiful place it was! So sad that it was modernized to keep up with our changing society and what we want for entertainment 🙁 Thank you for posting!
