September 17, 2013Tuesday Etsy Roundup – The Plans of Vivid Vivian Edition
Welcome back to the exciting (or if not, at least colorful) conclusion to last week’s story about the the formally “Vanilla” Vivian. Poor Vivian had lived her entire life of forty years without a smidge of color. She was known as a bit of a plain Jane. A window without dressing. Then she woke up one day and like a switch had been flipped, decided to infuse her life with color. When we left her last week, thanks to a shopping spree, she had gone from said vanilla to a lively tutti-frutti with sprinkles! As the curtains went down, we left Vivian writing some notes. She was very excited about those notes too! Let’s see what Vibrant Vivian had up her sleeve as she chuckled in satisfaction while putting pen to paper!
“A party! How have I not had a party in all of my forty years?” Vivian exclaimed to her kitty Maxine, who was hiding under the beautiful new chair that Vivian just had delivered from seller Gallivanting Girls.
Vivian eyed the new chair with all of its vibrant flowers and oh-so-perfect design. “Oh, Maxine! You are a pretty kitty but that incredible chair really makes me want to jazz you up too!” she said. Before Maxine knew it, she’d ordered this catwear pattern from seller HydrangeaCreations.
Since her owner was going through some kind of freaky Friday metamorphosis, Maxine was pretty sure that she’d soon be sporting the “Christian Le Claw” number complete with flowery hat and poof dress. Admittedly, Maxine felt conflicted but excited. But mostly conflicted. Could she carry off such an ensemble? What would the other cats in the neighborhood think?
Later in the day, after Vivian was walking home from the beauty shop (where she had just had her dishwater tresses colored a bright ruby red), she stepped into the post office to drop off the large parcel of notes to be mailed. In each, Vivian had promised a big reveal and invited the recipients to a party. She wondered what her family members would think when they arrived from out of state and saw her bold new look. And the ex-coworkers who always told Vivian that she blended into her cubicle walls. And what about the unrequited loves who had quickly reached the “let’s be friends” category after only one date – would they plead for a second chance? “I have no time to wonder about that now!” Vivian said. “I must get home and finish sprucing up my apartment!”
When she arrived back at home, her entire front stoop was covered in packages. “Thank goodness for overnight shipping!” she chirped as she took the boxes into the apartment. The first box that she opened was from seller kitschykoocollage and contained the new wallpaper for her kitchen.
Vivian loved the bright geranium hues of the background and the fun fruits, flowers and kitchen wares splashed across the paper. She also loved the bright lemon yellow accents which she knew would perfectly match her new dishes from seller Kolorize:
“Just wait until my guests get an eyeful of my forty four piece set of Homer Laughlin!” Vivian said while unwrapping her bold new dishes and packing away her sad old dinnerware for donation. “What could be in this box?” she said as she peeked inside of a large package from seller NewOrleansEclectics.
It was her new bedroom curtains! Vivian marveled at the huge floral pattern and vivid colors. “Does the blue match my eyes?” she said, batting her lashes at Maxine who quite honestly had her own cares to deal with.
Lastly, Vivian opened a large box from seller VintageCharacter which contained a magnificent trio of serving bowls:
Admiring her new bowls and then looking around the room at her new way of life, Vivian declared, “This party is going to be….. AMAZING.”
Come back next week for our final installment of Vivian’s transformation. What will she wear to the party? Will she ever stop shopping? Will her dance card be full? Will fuzzy friend Maxine feel overdressed? Stay tuned for next week’s edition of Tuesday Etsy Roundup!
