Won’t You Be My Neighbor – Making Glad on Gladstone in Kansas City, MO

By Eartha Kitsch

This week’s home is a real charmer. You know, I do love seeing the sleek, modern Mid-Century homes but I think that my heart will always be with the more modest time capsule family homes. They just give me such a good feeling! I’d move into this week’s home in a heartbeat if I could. I love the kitchen and baths most of all. So sweet!

I hope that you all like this home too.  Let’s take a look!

This home is located at 3601 Gladstone Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri. It’s a three bedroom, two bath home and is about 2,431 square feet with large basement. It was built in 1954. The listing price is $159,900 and it is being sold by Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate. From the listing:

Across from century-old mini-mansions on historic Gladstone Boulevard, this spacious Mid-Century brick raised ranch features lavish living spaces inside and out with fun “retro-style” kitchen and baths, oak hardwood floors, an office adjoining the master suite with its own entrance onto the porch, and a huge finishable basement with fireplace.

Let’s take a look inside and see if we can spy that “fun retro-style”!

Wow! The buyer will be getting a lot for that price! The neighborhood looks great, and the sun porch is amazing. I love the second bathroom. That sink is perfect.

The bathrooms are very cool as is the circular area in front of the house. The back of the home looks desolate or unfinished in some way? I wonder if the plant “bar” was actually a bar at one time? That would be neat…

The back does look like it could use some sprucing up. I can’t get over how that sunroom runs the entire length back there though. Would be a great place for parties in the Spring and Fall. I need to stop dreaming about this house. 🙂

Absolutely wonderful. A dream home for so many of us here. I hope it sells ONLY to someone who appreciates its timeless beauty.

I know…right? I think we should just snatch up the husbands and start a wagon train out there. All signs point to the Mid-West.

First off, wow, wow, WOW on the price! You cannot even buy a shack here for that. I love the yellow/aqua combo in the kitchen, and the bathrooms are just super cute.

Not here either, let me tell you. Think of the small mortgage payments each month…Sigh.

    Dear House Gods,

Please don’t let anyone gut and flip this house. Please let it find some vintage loving sweeties that will love it just as it is.

    Amen.

Oh, the back of the house is just horrible, though. What happened there? I would guess there are bodies buried out there.

Ha! Well, the real estate listing makes no note of bodies but it’s nothing that a little sod and some geraniums can’t fix. 🙂
