Photographs From the Past : Vintage Photos From eBay

By Sara In AZ

While doing my regular searches on eBay for the ‘Kool Kitsch’ post I do every Saturday  I usually come across some pretty sweet vintage pictures and slides. I always plan to put the photographs  into my Saturday post, but then all the pictures usually sell before I have a chance to post about them. ugh. Even though most all of the pictures are now sold, I thought they would be fun to post anyways….it’s always neat to take a ride to the past every now and again!

First up, sign me up for a stay at the Dix-Dox Motel in northern Wisconsin……knotty pine and a bullet planter in a motel room…..dreamy!

Well hello pretty girl, let me thank you in advance for taking such great care of that spectacular Frieze chair…would you by any chance want to sell it to me?! Also , how great are those tropical barkcloth curtains???

This little boy looks so sweet……I adore his little vinyl chair and that wallpaper too, but is anyone else with me on this – I cannot figure out if he REALLY loves that cat or is about to put a choke hold on it???

These next three pictures were all for sale from the same seller,  legsla. The pictures  all appear to come from the same family.

I am thinking these photos could be Christmas day pictures…you’ll see why I think that in the last picture in this set. Dad posing with baby……………..

This must be Mom……I LOVE your decorating tastes Mom – the bold wall color, the chalkware parrots, the bullet planter, that awesome end table…..we need to talk!

Now you can see why I think it was Christmas day….all those cards and decorations, the present stack to the lower right. Perhaps Mom just got out of bed and threw on her robe (though she looks absolutely fabulous!). I think we all have these kind of pictures on Christmas day….the “I will just throw on the nearest cover-up so I can get to all those presents” look…..I know I sure did! And seriously, I LOVE her  decorating – a FAB pole light and shadowbox too! Eeeeeeee!!!

And finally, this slide image is actually the only one you can still buy…………for the next few hours anyways! This one is a real doozy too…the little girl all dolled up in her new Western outfit (that you know she just got for Christmas) and her horse Paint By Number ( that I am guessing proud mama painted just for her baby girl) …..can life be any sweeter? I think not.

Hope that y’all had a great trip to the past with me!

Those ruffled lamp shades are awesome! I remember having those. It seems like basic shades are somewhat pricey these days; I can only imagine how expensive those would be if they offered them now.

I loved those lamps/shades too RangerSmith……I totally remember those from my ‘growing up’ years – seems like they were pretty popular back then….and yes, I am sure NOT cheap!

Aw, those are great pictures. After my mom passed away a few years ago I found a color pic of her holding me as a baby and in the background are some atomic starburst drapes and an amazing yellow & gold fiberglass shade lamp. Sadly, all long gone & I only remember the drapes and the black/formica Danish modern end table. Now that pic is above my desk.

OMG! My Grandmother had the same pink walls in her house until her passing in 2008. My family asked me if I wanted to see it after they fixed it up to sell and I said not. Those walls will remain in my memory as pink in for the rest of my life.

Oh Angie, that is SO cool…..I love that color….and I can totally understand why you would not want to see it after it was fixed up – I’d be the same way too.

Great photos–cozy, comfortable, unpretentious and classic shots of a simpler time! Love it.
