Fall Fashions From Paris – Life Magazine, September 2, 1966

by Andrea

I’ve got another great pictorial spread from Life Magazine for you this week. What I really like about this one is that the designers they are featuring here are some very big names in fashion. Let’s take a look, shall we?

These pop-art dresses were designed by Yves St Laurent, who Life magazine refers to here as a “young innovator”.  St Laurent went on to be one of the greatest designers in the 70’s and 80’s.

These coats were the looks from the House of Dior.  I am madly in love with the whole look worn by the model on the right!

The caption on these is “From old Russia with long coats, Boyar shirts, lavish fur”.  The orange dress is by Pierre Cardin, who is definitely another very influential 60’s designer.

Here’s some looks for evening.  The one on the bottom left seems very ahead of it’s time to me as the long jersey maxi-dress is something I associate with the 70’s.  It’s gorgeous, and I would totally wear it.

Could the dinner pajamas on the top photo be any more elegant?  I guess I am always a sucker for a retro look, even when it is what was retro in 1966!

I’d love to hear which looks you enjoyed out of this spread!

I think the dinner pajamas are definitely going on my “to sew” list!
