Tuesday Etsy Roundup – The Resolutions Edition

By Eartha Kitsch

Happy 2014 everyone! I hope that it’s treating you well so far. We all know what a new year brings – that’s right! Resolutions! Did any of you make any? I’ll admit that I didn’t but I know that a lot of people do!  I did a little research to see what the top resolutions are for 2014 and this week’s Etsy roundup will feature some of those in the top ten. Let’s run down all ten while we’re at it!

The tenth most popular resolution is to spend more time with family. I think that’s a pretty great one!

The ninth most popular resolution that people make is to fall in love. This book from seller pocketbooksandthings might be just the stuff!

I thought that it might be good to take it back to basics and get the facts like teenagers would have back in 1957. Some things never change, you know!

The eighth most popular resolution is to help others find their dreams. This one kind of surprised me because I thought that people would want to pursue their own dreams first but I think this is kind of admirable, don’t you?

The seventh most popular resolution is to quit smoking. This coloring book from BumperStickersnmore was made to help promote this goal:

If talking cigarettes won’t make a person think twice about smoking, then nothing will. Click on through to check out the illustrations in this book. They’re pretty amazing!

The sixth most popular resolution is to learn something exciting – to keep the mind sharp and interested.

The fifth most popular resolution is getting fit. Check out this interesting bit of exercise equipment by seller kitschannette.

How great is the Twist ‘N Tone, huh?! I love the little photo of the man exercising in his suit!

The fourth most popular resolution is to live life to the fullest. Amen to that one!

The third most popular resolution is to save more money. This little guy from seller Mrjoebanglesretro would be the perfect motivation!

Seriously, is he not one of THE cutest little fellas that you’ve ever seen? Why, I’d save money just to spend time with this darling little pig!

The second most popular resolution is to get organized. This sweet flower power file box from seller buyoldschool would be a huge help with that!

Talk about cute! Having this around might just make a paper keeper like myself finally have a clear desk!

And the first most popular resolution is yep, you guessed it – to lose weight. Ain’t that always the way? This scale from seller VintagePickin can help keep a person on track:

Oh! Sassy! Nothing like a snappy reminder of where all of those french fries can get a person! I love this scale.

I also learned that around 45% of Americans make resolutions and well, only about 8% of those people ever reach their goals. Oh, sad!

That said, whatever your resolutions might be, don’t let these numbers get you down. I believe in you! Or if you’re like me and didn’t make any resolutions, well…I believe in you too! Let’s make this a great year!

My top resolution is to not procrastinate, but to do things as soon as they are before me. I’m awful about putting a task away for “another time”, or checking through my unread emails “later”. I had to laugh just now because after I read this article I immediately wanted to leave a comment but said “I’ll do it later” ARGHHHH! I fear I’m off to a bad start… LOL

Oooh, I love that file box! As someone who perpetually needs to be more organized, I could sure use a vintage one like that!

Oh my gosh….the “Twist and Tone”….soooooo funny!

And that scale…..it SO reminds me of this scale my Mom STILL has…..of course a totally 1970s scale with a funny Hippo picture on it with the saying “Those Who Indulge Bulge”! tee-hee…..gosh, I remember that scale from when I was a wee little kid, so she must have gotten it in the very early 1970s.
