July 28, 2014Marion’s Dairy Bar in Tawas City, MI
So, we decided to take a little trip a few weeks ago and we ended up in Tawas City, Michigan, which is a really cute little lakeshore town. They have a really great vintage/retro vibe there, and one of the great vintage things about Tawas City is Marion’s Dairy Bar!
How can you say “no” to that sweet face?
Marion’s has been around since 1945, and is very proud of that fact. The interior is primarily vintage or reproduction, and is decorated with some great vintage pieces.
The only thing serious in Marion’s is the queuing policy. You come in only one door and foot traffic only moves in one way. And God help you if you go back. I hadn’t decided what I wanted while Tom was getting his peanut butter shake made, but we were shooed down the line anyway, and I was yelled at by no less than three employees when I tried to go back to look at the menu.
So, respect the queue at Marion’s.
Other than that small oddity, Marion’s is delightful. The interior was very cute.
Here I am, respecting the queue, but still trying to read the menu.
These tables had all gotten new boomerang laminate, which looked really good!
The back of the dairy bar.
But, no matter how cute the interior is, it doesn’t mean squat unless the ice cream is good. So we asked Alex what she thought.
I think the death-grip she has on Tom’s hand says it all!
