Mid-Century Vases From Glittery Moon Vintage & Gorgeous Giveaway of a 1950s Hans Achtziger Tall White Vase! – WINNER CHOSEN

Can I just tell you that the vases from Glittery Moon Vintage are arrestingly beautiful? I am constantly amazed by the beauty of mid-century design and our new sponsor, Stephanie from Glittery Moon Vintage, has managed to introduce me to a new area that I am destined to become obsessed with.

Amazing, detailed, precise, gorgeous mid-century vases. Obsessed, I tell you. Obsessed.

And it turns out that Stephanie isn’t just a lovely lady with a lovely shop full of lovely vases, she is also a very generous soul! She is giving away one of her wonderful mid-century vases to a lucky reader!

Do you want to win this lovely 1950s Hans Achtziger vase? Leave a comment below to enter, but first let’s chat with Stephanie, look at some more vases and get a glimpse into her retro home!

Here is Stephanie, modeling one of the lovely Mid-Century veils from her shop

Some of my earliest and fondest memories include watching Bewitched on a striped 60’s sofa and listening to bossa nova and samba singer Astrud Gilberto on a vintage record player at my grandparent’s house.  This amazing home—an eclectic picture of mid-century perfection—was my first exposure to the mid-century era style.

The one item which would always stand out when I was a child was my Grandfather’s wonderful mid-century desk, where I would play for hours and use his magnifying glass to explore the various items in his drawers. I always found this desk so appealing, although I didn’t really understand why when I was younger. This very same desk is now in my own home, and its marvelous design and craftsmanship have inspired me to research and learn more about mid-century design. As I wondered what would be the perfect complement to decorating such a cherished object of my childhood, I soon realized that mid-century home décor is where my heart is!

My grandfather’s desk sits against a sunny window in my living room.

Here is my living room, where my porcelain collection is housed. In the corner is my Bjørn Wiinblad collection. My art gallery wall is an eclectic collection featuring my favorite Etsy and Mid-Century artists.

A closeup of the iconic Eames rocker, an Ellen King mushroom, a Wesley Lund candelabra and an enamel dish by an unknown artist.

My love of this style truly began when I purchased my first white porcelain vase, which sparked the need to find out more about these incredible vases—such as, who designed them, is there a story behind the pattern, or what happened during this era to inspire the design of each piece? I learned that many of these vases have been designed by artists and designers that are consistently featured in museums, including Tapio Wikkala and Martin Freyer (who is most famous for designing the VW logo).

Here is my beautiful white porcelain collection. The feathers add a bohemian touch to the modern all-white collection!

As I expanded my collection, I decided to help others discover and enjoy this wonderful era of home décor by opening up Glittery Moon Vintage. It may have all started with the white porcelain vases, but my shop has since grown and currently offers numerous other mid-century home décor items.

Wouldn’t this Mid-Century hedgehog tray be the perfect accessory for a retro style garden party?

I love the way these two gorgeous kingfishers, which were made by Tapio Wirkkala for Rosenthal, look on my old 1950s wood staircase!

Glittery Moon Vintage has a very bohemian modern feel to it now, and it has also influenced the decoration of my home. I love how my own décor is constantly changing, always depending upon the items I have in my shop. Sometimes it feels like I am living in a rotating museum, something of a dream come true!

I am happy to offer free domestic shipping to all No Pattern Required readers when you use the promo code MIDCENTURY14 . When you visit my shop, I hope it inspires you to find something that will spark happiness and inspiration from such a wonderful era for your home.

Thank you for visiting Glittery Moon Vintage!

I had a look in Stephanie’s Etsy shop and I think my favourite item is the Schwarzenhammer Black and White Modernist Relief Glazed Porcelain Vase because it reminds me a little of a Jenga set!

It’s a beautiful vase! I really liked the feathers in your vase collection. I have been trying to find new ideas for landscaping my fireplace mantel. This got me thinking on highlighting one flower or object in multiple ways like you did.

What a lovely shop. I’m particularly drawn to the Thorkild Olsen Royal Copenhagen Geometric Vase – for its design and also its shape, which would be nice for garden flower arrangements. So many beautiful items!
