Aristocrat Campers, portable 1960s – Vintage Camper Friday

By Merlin

As I gather listings for my camper blog every week one manufacturer that stands out is Aristocract.  The exterior and interior styling really say 1960’s to me.  The exterior departs from the rounded “canned ham” look  that was used into the 1960s. And the styling offers some lines different from other trailers.

Aristocrat campers were produced from 1956 to 1974 by Irving Perch.  Mr. Perch was involved in the rv industry throughout his lifetime.

Aristocrat made a wide array of travel trailers from the Lowliner (which would be mounted on metal rollers without its wheels for parking in short places) to the very large Land Liner and Classic models.

Pricing of Aristocrats is similar to other vintage campers and of course varies with condition.  I shared pictures from a couple nicely restored campers in my pictures.  As of this week I have only found the one pictured above and below for sale for $5,000.00 in Merlin, Oregon.

Lovely! We have two vintage campers. One is a 1956 Shasta and one is a 1960’s Carolina Traveler. The Carolina Traveler was a limited production line made near Highpoint, NC. It was a lucky find. A North Carolina private campground had been sold and everything had to be cleared out. There were a few camping trailers that were not claimed, so they sold them. We got this one. We camp in the Shasta because it’s small and easy to pull. We are almost finished with transforming the Carolina Traveler into a backyard cabana-like area. We’ve parked it and built a deck and roof for it. If you can’t tell, I’m kind of obsessed with these things.

I want one of the larger ones with a barn for a workshop and I would be good, maybe park one in a barn 🙂

Yeah _ I just learned about this group. My wife and I bought a 1968 Aristocrat thats fairly clean and in good shape. We don’t know alot about the model, and would like to find a manual and references to these. Propane Refridgerators, Water systems, I need to know more about this and any support is appreciated. Thanks everyone!
